Lexia expands to Northern Finland – Law firm Ferenda’s Oulu office merges with Lexia
August 31, 2021
Lexia Attorneys and law firm Ferenda’s Oulu office will merge. The acquisition supports Lexia’s strategic aim to combine strong local expertise with a broad nationwide and international network of professionals.
The merger will provide businesses in the Northern Finland economic area access to a modern, international law firm that focuses on achieving the business goals of clients with solid professionalism and strong local expertise.
Ferenda will merge with Lexia on 1 September 2021. In connection with the acquisition, seven employees will be transferred to Lexia: Partner and Attorney-at-Law Reima Raappana and six other employees. Ferenda’s clients operate throughout Northern Finland.
“Oulu is the capital of northern Scandinavia, with an international and vibrant business life. Many Oulu-based businesses aim directly for global markets. Lexia provides businesses in Northern Finland with local contacts in legal matters combined with Lexia’s extensive expertise in business law and international networks,” says Samuli Koskela, Attorney-at-Law and CEO of Lexia.
The Oulu region specialises in electronics manufacturing, scientific research and development, technical services, and software and information services. For example, the growing mining sector in Northern Finland combines the need of expertise in local legislation and international networks.
“Lexia possesses strong and versatile expertise in business law, including technology expertise and business-oriented experience in growth companies and internationalisation. Businesses in Northern Finland stand to benefit from our expertise and customer-driven approach to services.”
“We have provided services to businesses in Northern Finland for a quarter of a century. We understand the operating environment and the needs of our customers. A good corporate lawyer is a partner for the company’s management and able to help the client grow and succeed. Going forward, we will continue to do this with a local touch as part of Lexia,” says Raappana, partner and head of the Oulu office.
The regulatory environment of businesses is rapidly changing and becoming more complex. Issues such as global markets, international financing and corporate arrangements, rapid technological progress, changes in labour law, crises in the business environment and the platform economy impose new obligations on operations.
These upheavals also bring about unlimited opportunities, and the changing world needs new ways of working and networks that Lexia is continuously developing in order to better serve our clients.
