Polar Night Energy Oy is a Finnish startup company founded in 2018 that designs and manufactures high-temperature thermal energy storage systems. The company has developed the Sand Battery, which efficiently stores heat generated from renewable energy while minimizing costs. The technology converts electricity into thermal energy and stores it within a large mass of sand. The stored heat can later be utilized, for example, in district heating networks.
Lexia advised Polar Night Energy on all legal aspects of its recently completed EUR 7.6 million funding round, led by South African businessman, impact investor and conservationist Jonathan Oppenheimer. The client relationship at Lexia is managed by Olli Kotila.
